Heeter currently resides in Shippenville with her husband, Nathan D. Reed. She and her husband both grew up in Knox and attended Keystone Jr./Sr. High School, as did their parents. Heeter is the daughter of Dianne (Lauffer) Heeter and the late Craig Heeter of Knox. Her grandparents are Twila Heeter and the late Wendell Heeter of Knox and Maxine Lauffer and the late John H. Lauffer of Shippenville. Reed’s parents are Belinda Reed and the late Donald (“Flub”) Reed of Knox.

Heeter is involved in various community organizations. She serves on the board of directors of the Mrs. Claus Club of Knox and as Vice President of the board of Stop Abuse for Everyone (SAFE). She is a member of the Clarion University Paralegal Advisory Board and the congregation of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Shippenville.

She has assisted in the legal formation of various local non-profit organizations and in obtaining tax exempt status. As CYS solicitor, she has advocated for the children and families of Clarion County.
